Our story

Our journey to Alameda Brewing
Alameda Brewing began back in 2015 as a partnership between Coast Guard veteran Matthew Fox and Construction Manager Bill Phua as Alameda Island Brewing Company. Alameda Brewing was the team’s vision to bring craft beer to Downtown Alameda.
To pay homage to the neighborhood that we’ve grown with over the years, we’ve recently renamed ourselves as Alameda Brewing in August 2024. Family-run from the start, we’re anchored in Downtown Alameda at the corner of Park Street and Buena Vista Avenue. We’re located a quick 5-minute walk away from the historic Park Street Bridge and easily accessible by foot, bus, or car. For those driving, we’ve got a parking lot right behind us — you can find it by turning onto Buena Vista Avenue.
There’s something always happening at Alameda Brewing. We’ve got trivia, live music, and more happening at the brewery each week. We even have a seltzer on tap for our friends that don’t like beer!
Over the years, our business has grown to more than just beer as we bring the Alameda community together as a great spot to mingle and share memories. We, at Alameda Brewing, are looking forward to seeing you in the taproom. Cheers to another decade of beer fun!

Our beer program
Justin Green (AKA The Sultan of Suds) brings with him over a decade of brewing experience to the island we call home. You can find local favorites such as Island Haze and Big Paddle available here in the taproom. In addition, you can find Justin’s beers of choice such as German Lagers and a fun rotating West Coast IPA selection, complete in Justin’s signature style to ensure that his beers look “just like glass”!
